Superb huge antique French oak wardrobe with shelves, flat pack armoire Louis. XV

New into our depot and dating from the early 20th century, This is a very good quality French carved oak antique armoire, with a large hanging space and shelf, (a second larger shelf is also included)The paneled doors are prettily shaped with lovely decoration, and the middle door has a beautiful bevelled mirror.

The armoire stands on beautifully carved cabriole legs. The sides are constructed from fielded oak panels The lock escutcheons are pretty. The lock works on the center door, the other door has a magnetic catch fitted. The top sweeps up in a dramatic bow shape which is topped with a gorgeous carved centerpiece. It was built around a century ago in one of several cabinet makers shops in the Ardennes region of northern France..

This type of French vintage furniture breaks down easily to accommodate tight access and bolts back solidly together when in place with steel bolts. It's a traditional French method of furniture construction which became popular over the last 2 centuries as apartment dwelling became more frequent in French cities... Dimensions: It's going to need a high ceiling room as it stands 253cms high x 58cms deep. [overall width at cornice overhang].

The overall condition is good. It's going to look just stunning in a French inspired bedroom or country house hallway and give you plenty of practical storage..
