Rustic French Bakers Table, Preparation Table with Large Dough Drawer

This is a superbly aged little table which is perfect for a country styled kitchen, made of pine and fruitwood it is heavy and solid and charmingly rustic, the perfect piece to use for preparation or display purposes. It dates to the late 1800s and would have been used in a rustic provincial French kitchen, used daily for baking, prepping and serving delicious earthy food made from locally grown produce. The table is fairly low and has a rectangular top which is made up of several panels of well-aged pine.

The base is set on slender tapered block legs and one end is fitted with a large deep drawer finished with an aged cup handle. The wood is very marked and aged with an immense amount of old inactive wood worm holes. It is a lovely colour, rich and warm like mellowed oak with a polished finish from years of waxing. CONDITION This piece is in solid structural condition having been checked over in our workshop but has many marks of age and use and a multitude of old inactive woodworm holes to the wood.

The top has many marks, exposed nails and gaps between the panels, there is also a mark where an old mincer may have once sat. There are various knocks, dents, chips and scratches which give this piece immense character. The legs are bandy and bowed.
