Rare 1900s French Provincial Solid Oak 10' 3m refectory table & 10 Cane Seats. Refectory table crafted from 6 x 3m various width planks of 40mm thick French oak that have not separated or warped in anyway - and still feature the grain, paw marks and knots that naturally occur in the timber. The table top sits on 70x70mm chamfered oak legs braced with chamfered frame and 3m long central stretcher. The frame has been fixed using traditional methods of construction at the time and still remains solid and sturdy. The lack of carvings and use of just a chamfered detail keeps this table classic in design and timeless.
As a result it could compliment interiors with both a farmhouse theme and those with a contemporary finish. The 10 oak rattan chairs that accompany this table feature turned carved legs joined with a cross stretcher. The escalope carvings typical of provincial French furniture features on the front of each chair. The geometric carvings around the rattan back rest help to date these chairs to the same time period as the chair and we're sourced from the same chateau in Normandie.
One chair does require repair to the rattan as shown in the picture. Another chair has a sag in the rattan too. But the other 8 are in excellent condition as is the table.
