Large French Louis xv carved 5 door armoire, shelves, drawers wardrobe, flat pack
PLEASE NOTE; WE NO LONGER DELIVER TO LONDON , SCOTLAND, OR IRELAND. New into our depot and dating from the mid 20th century, This is a huge and handsome French carved oak armoire. The paneled doors are nicely shaped and decorated with some nice carved floral and classical designs and it stands on cabriole legs. The lock escutcheons are pretty and the door locks are working with keys. It offers a massive amount of hanging and storage space with shelves , hanging rails and drawers.
The shelves are easy to remove if you needed longer hanging space.. The larg middle section has 3 drawers and three shelves. It's constructed from mainly solid oak though some of the interior and the shelves are veneered. The side panels are attractively fielded around the edges. The three drawers in the middle section are nicely carved and constructed with dovetail joints.
It was built 50-60 years ago in one of several cabinet makers shops in the Ardennes region of northern France. This type of French vintage furniture breaks down easily to accommodate tight access and bolts back solidly together when in place with steel cam locks.. it's a traditional French method of furniture construction which became popular over the last 2 centuries as apartment dwelling became more frequent in French cities.. The overall build quality is good, as is the condition and it's going to look just stunning in a French inspired bedroom or country house hallway and give you plenty of practical storage.
