A very rare and hard to find all original Napoleon III Era Ebonized Faux Bamboo and Gilt wooden Stool or Seat. This elegant stool is all hand made wooden fret work in Faux Bamboo in the Chinese taste in France circa 1850/1860. The four legs are playing out at the feet and connected to one another by faux bamboo stretchers, , centred on a faux bamboo crossed square.
The eight free hanging wooden bells are a typical example of the Chinoiserie influence in the Napoleon era. The original fabric is still maintained and has some wear and spots but could be removed and preserved if re-upholstery were desired. This piece is all hand carved and very delicate. Great condition with age appropirate wear, minor paint losses.
